Nearline is now participating in Google's Book Search - the controversial online library of books that has been in the news for the past year or so. Traditional publishers have fought Google's perceived encroachment into their territory, claiming everything from copyright infringement to wholesale theft. Of course, most of these folks have screamed bloody murder about used book sales, too.

At Nearline we see Google Book Search as just one more way to let the public find your book, sample its content, and begin to understand your work. If viewing a few pages of your book online is going to convince a potential buyer that the book isn't worth having, then maybe the book shouldn't be for sale in the first place. We believe the books we publish actually have some value, and that giving people a preview of the content is the best way to let them see that. Our goal is to get our books into the marketplace as broadly as possible.

All books published by Nearline for retail sale will now be entered into Google Book Search.
